Frequently Asked Questions

How does Vitastiq work?

Vitastiq integrates the pioneering EAV (Electroacupuncture According to Voll) technique, developed by the German physician Reinhold Voll, into a modern health tracking tool that pairs with your smartphone or tablet. This innovative approach measures the electrical conductivity at specific points on the body, each associated with different organs and systems, to provide a detailed snapshot of the user’s nutritional health. The foundation of this methodology lies in the discovery that acupuncture points exhibit unique electrical conductivities, distinct from the surrounding skin, reflecting the body’s vitamin and mineral status and offering deep insights into nutritional well-being.

While Vitastiq is not a medical device, it adopts this principle to guide users in monitoring their health trends, focusing on the qualitative aspects of vitamin and mineral levels without quantifying them. It is designed to enhance lifestyle and fitness tracking by indicating overall health trends, leveraging the established EAV methodology that has been recognized for its effectiveness since the 1950s. However, it’s crucial to note that Vitastiq does not have the capability to diagnose, treat, or prevent medical conditions. By consistently tracking health trends over time, Vitastiq encourages a proactive approach to maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle, serving as an adjunct to traditional health monitoring practices.

What is electro-acupuncture EAV?

Electro-acupuncture According to Voll (EAV) is a technique that merges traditional acupuncture concepts with electrical measurement to assess the body’s energy meridians. According to this approach, each acupuncture point is associated with specific organs and bodily functions. By measuring the electrical resistance at these points, EAV aims to identify imbalances or disruptions in the body’s natural energy flow, suggesting potential health issues. Developed by Dr. Reinhold Voll in the mid-20th century, EAV is based on the idea that optimal health is maintained by the balanced flow of energy, and disruptions in this flow can indicate or lead to health problems.

Why is it so important to determine the reference point accurately?

To track the nutrient trend, Vitastiq uses the electrical resistance of an acupuncture point in relation to the reference point. The reference point, determined during calibration, remains the main guidance as you move to the other measuring points.

Each person has their own skin type. That is why calibration is necessary. During the calibration step, your skin’s resistance will be determined. If you don’t calibrate properly or don’t apply the same pressure at other points, your readings will be inconsistent.

Is the EAV method invasive?

No, the EAV method is completely non-invasive and painless. It involves measuring the electrical resistance of the skin at specific acupuncture points, without any need for piercing or penetration. This makes the procedure comfortable and safe for the patient.

What are Vitastiq readings?

Vitastiq readings provide qualitative information on your vitamin and mineral levels, categorizing them into four levels: low, mild, good, and high. The overview also offers useful insights regarding the specific vitamins and minerals measured.

How to properly use Vitastiq?

It is common for the results to vary from one measurement to another at the beginning, as you probably don’t have any prior experience. It’s crucial to accurately calibrate the Vitastiq pen at the reference point, as the accuracy of all results depends on this step. Additionally, holding the Vitastiq pen correctly, the amount of pressure you apply to a point, and skin moisture are important factors. Please go through the video tutorials, in-app tutorials, and the User Manual.

The hand holding the Vitastiq pen should not be in contact with any other part of your body; otherwise, the readings will be incorrect. Do not touch the nail root, as this can also affect the accuracy of the results. Find the accurate spot within 1-2 mm of the area of the point shown on the screen. Slightly move the tip of the device within the point to find the highest value (do not change the pressure or lose contact with the skin in the process). Your highest value is the correct value. Maintain the same pressure on each point as you did during the calibration process. Press it just enough so the tip retracts completely.

Each person has their own skin type, which is why calibration is necessary and important. During the calibration step, your skin’s resistance will be determined. If you don’t calibrate properly or don’t apply the same pressure at other points, your readings will be inconsistent.

Please see our in-app tutorial or read the User Manual, which will guide you through the simple steps. Be sure to watch the Vitastiq tutorials; they provide a detailed description of each step. For more information, email us at support@vitastiq.com.

How often should I use Vitastiq?

The frequency of use depends on your personal needs, but using it a few times per week would likely give you a better overall picture of your vitamin and mineral trends.

Every condition impacts a person’s vitamin and mineral status, including the time of day, physical activity, food intake, stress level, etc. Since Vitastiq is not a medical device but a vitamin tracker that indicates the general trend of a person’s vitamin levels, we advise users not to rely solely on a single session of readings. That is why we recommend using Vitastiq consistently over several weeks, preferably at the same time of day, and under similar conditions to obtain a general trend of your vitamin and mineral status.

What are the recommended levels of vitamins and minerals?

The body requires various nutrients, each in specific amounts, for optimal functioning. The Vitastiq app offers detailed information on the recommended levels for a range of vitamins and minerals. To access this information in the Vitastiq app, follow these steps:
open the app and navigate to ‘tutorials,’ then select ‘vitamins and minerals.’
Within this section, you’ll discover detailed insights into the recommended levels for each vitamin and mineral monitored by Vitastiq.

What is the difference between vitamins and minerals?

Vitamins are organic compounds derived from living sources—animals, plants, or materials that were once living. In contrast, minerals are inorganic and originate from the earth, water, or soil. Both vitamins and minerals are recognized as essential nutrients, crucial for the body’s health and development. While the body can produce certain nutrients like vitamin D (with sun exposure) and some bacteria in the gut can synthesize vitamin K, most vitamins and minerals cannot be produced by the body in sufficient amounts and must be obtained through diet.

Vitamins and minerals are both vital for the body’s proper functioning, but they differ in stability. Vitamins, especially water-soluble ones like vitamin C and some B vitamins, can be easily destroyed or degraded by heat, light, prolonged storage, or during food preparation and cooking processes. Fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K), however, tend to be more stable. Minerals, being inorganic, are not affected by these conditions and maintain their chemical structure.

Why do my results vary within a short period of time?

Daily fluctuations in the levels of water-soluble vitamins and minerals can occur due to factors such as diet, exercise, and stress; however, the main inconsistencies often stem from not accurately locating measurement points or from checking the same nerve endpoint repeatedly in a short timeframe, which leads to increased resistance and thus decreased accuracy.

Consistently using Vitastiq at the same time each day and ensuring proper calibration of the reference point are advised. It’s essential to maintain the same pressure on each point as you did during the calibration process. Holding your Vitastiq pen upright and pressing its tip vertically onto the measuring point, then carefully adjusting to find the precise position, is crucial for accurate measurement. Familiarizing yourself with the correct use of Vitastiq, and understanding the EAV method that examines nerve endings, are important steps for obtaining reliable results.

Can I take the readings at the same measuring point more than once during one session?

If you think the reading of a particular vitamin or mineral is inaccurate, or if you wish to repeat it for any reason, simply go back and tap on the desired vitamin or mineral and repeat the measurement.

Once the session is completed you won’t be able to repeat any reading from that session.

I do not know my blood type. Is this information important for the readings?

If you are unsure of your blood type, you may leave that field blank.

How long does calibration take?

During calibration, the Vitastiq must maintain continuous contact with the skin for approx. 12 seconds, while you move the tip of the pen along your thumb (as demonstrated on the screen).

Each person has their own skin type, which is why calibration is necessary and important. During the calibration step, your skin’s resistance will be determined. If you don’t calibrate properly or don’t apply the same pressure at other points, your readings will be inconsistent.

My Vitastiq app does not navigate to the next measuring point.

The navigation to the next measuring point can be configured to ‘auto’ or ‘manual’ mode. In manual mode, you must manually select the next vitamin or mineral to proceed to the next measuring point. On the other hand, auto mode automatically advances to the next measuring point. Ensure you check the Settings in the Vitastiq app to verify your selected mode.

If set to auto mode and the app still does not advance to the next point, try restarting the Vitastiq app. Additionally, logging out and then logging back in may resolve the issue.

What NOT to do while using Vitastiq?

  • Do not hold the smartphone in your hand. The phone should not be in contact with your skin while you are using Vitastiq.

Does Vitastiq work with any Android or iPhone smartphone?

Yes, Vitastiq is compatible with all Android smartphones running version 5.0 and newer, as well as all iOS smartphones running version 9.0 and newer.

If you have further questions about this, feel free to reach out.

It seems my Vitastiq is losing contact while I’m using it. Could it be malfunctioning?

If your skin is particularly dry, its resistance to electrical signals increases, resulting in lower conductivity. This can prevent the Vitastiq from completing the electrical circuit effectively. As a result, you might notice that the Vitastiq pen seems to lose contact, indicated by an unstable indicator on the screen and flickering light when in contact with your skin.

To enhance your skin’s conductivity (and decrease resistance), you have two methods available: you can either dampen the area of the skin with a wet pad or moisten the tip of the Vitastiq pen. It’s important to perform this moistening step not just during the calibration process but also prior to making contact with each acupuncture point you intend to measure. Use only slightly moist pads, not soaked or dripping with water.

Message: ‘Please remove the Vitastiq pen from your skin to proceed.’

If the app persistently shows the message: ‘Please remove the Vitastiq pen from your skin to proceed,’ even when the tip is not touching your skin, halt the process and log out and back into the app. This issue often arises if water enters the Vitastiq, a common occurrence when the cotton pad used is too wet. If water has entered the device, carefully shake the Vitastiq and hold it upright to ensure all water drains out. We strongly advise using only a slightly damp cotton pad to prevent malfunction.

I cannot activate my Vitastiq

Ensure your device is charged, then press the tip of the Vitastiq pen to activate it, watching for the blue LED to start blinking. If the LED does not illuminate, a reset may be necessary.
To reset your Vitastiq, connect it to a power source using the included USB cable. Wait for the LED to turn on and blink before disconnecting it from the charger. Afterward, press and hold the tip of your Vitastiq to activate it.
If your Vitastiq is connected to the extra handle via USB cable, holding this handle is necessary to activate the device.

Ensure Bluetooth and Location are enabled in your smartphone/tablet settings; without these, the app will not recognize your Vitastiq device.

The blue LED will automatically turn off after 1 minute of inactivity.

My Vitastiq is not recognized when I start Vitastiq app.

Vitastiq pairs with your smartphone or tablet via the Vitastiq app, not through your device’s Bluetooth settings. However, ensure that both Bluetooth and Location services are enabled on your device; the app cannot recognize your Vitastiq without them.

To activate your Vitastiq, press and hold the tip until the blue LED blinks. Then, open the Vitastiq app and navigate to Settings > Select Vitastiq. If your Vitastiq is active, it will appear on the list. Simply tap on it to confirm your selection.
